AID FOR FRIENDS
www.aidforfriends.org
The Mission of Aid for Friends is to serve needy, isolated shut-ins, primarily the frail elderly, in the five-county Greater Philadelphia Region with free daily home cooked meals, delivered weekly by empathetic volunteer visitors, and also to provide shut-ins with free outreach services. The goal is to help them maintain their cherished independence by supporting their determination to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and to enhance their quality of life.
The Saint Anselm Parish Community assists this mission in the following ways:
COOKS
We ask volunteers to cook one or more extra servings while preparing the dinner meal for their families, Meals are frozen in aluminum trays provided by AFF. Menu Sheets and plastic bags are also provided. Some volunteers make soup as well. After the dinners and/or soups are frozen, they can be brought to the Parish Freezer at your convenience.
The freezer is located in the Scrip Room and can be accessed during those hours the Parish Center is open. All the necessary supplies (trays, menu sheets, plastic bags, soup containers and lids) are located on the table next to the freezer. You are asked to indicate on the sign-up sheet (located on freezer door) the number of meals you stored in the freezer. Any replenishment supplies can be taken from the table as needed.
VISITORS
Each week our volunteer visitors pick up seven frozen dinners and deliver them to the client/friend they have volunteered to visit, spending approximately one hour. The visitors attempt to fill the clients need, both nutritional and social. Often happiness is just having someone to talk to.
DRIVERS
Drivers work closely with the staff at the AFF Headquarters to help move meals between freezer sites or pick up and/or deliver supplies to various freezer sites throughout the area.
If interested in more information about AFF please contact your Parish Coordinator, Bill Fitzgerald 215-637-9571 or email billfitz1@msn.com

LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary is a world wide apostolic organization of practicing Catholic men and women who come together to work for the Lord under the banner of Mary. It is designed to bring its members closer to the Lord through a balanced program of prayer and service. The Blessed Mother will bring you closer to her Son! The more parishioners that participate, the more apostolic work that can be done in the parish.
The Legion of Mary gives Catholics an opportunity to do something for the Church and at the same time deepen their spiritual life and strengthen their Catholic Faith. The main purpose of Legion membership is to give honor and glory to God through the holiness of its members.
Servant of the Lord, Frank Duff, founded the Legion of Mary in 1921, in Dublin Ireland. St. Anselm parish has had an active Senior legion group since October 23, 1989.
The best way to learn about the Legion of Mary is to come to a meeting. The Legion of Mary at St. Anselm parish meets on Monday evening at
7:00 pm in Room A. There is no obligation by attending a meeting. For every prospective candidate there is a period of discernment, while participating as an active legionary, before deciding to join.
Come and enjoy the company of like-minded parishioners and participate in the missionary work of the Church in your own parish.
So, please, Respond to Her Call, and give us a try! We Will Be There to Welcome You!

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (R.C.I.A.)
Our Church has done much self-evaluation in the last thirty years and has done much re-vision. To revise is to take a better approach to improve the quality of the experience.
On re-vision deals with the Process through which “converts”, fallen away or lapsed Catholics go through. The R.C.I.A. is a process and method which provides a richer and fuller faith and God experience for the participants.
Any non-Catholic who wishes to become a member of the Catholic Church or who simply may want to learn about our faith, any Catholic who has been away from the Church is asked to contact the Parish Center.
Participants will reflect on the life of Christ and as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts they will freely and knowingly seek the living God and enter the path of faith and conversation (should this be conversion?). By God’s help, the participants are strengthened spiritually so that, at the proper time, they will receive the sacraments fruitfully..
